June’s Movement Program: Somatic Practice and Movement Therapy
Finding movement and flow with Changing Room.
It’s been a couple of weeks since we hosted parallel sessions at Converge Studios. This marks our fourth movement program since Changing Room the film was first shown at The Projector, and we are excited to see the growth of the sessions offered, and most importantly, the many new faces in each session.
Adelene Stanley hosted a somatic practice themed STONES & PILLOWS. Despite Adelene being a familiar face to the Changing Room community, this session was unlike any other we had hosted. Participants found space to express their body through movement that connects to their inner being, finding new ways to move their bodies by exploring all the tensions, softness, and release.
Shi Han, a new facilitator to one of Changing Room’s movement practices, delivered Your Clothes and You, a dance/movement therapy session in which participants explored their connection to their bodies and how this relates to mind-body-clothing relationship. Participants found moments of reflection, by themselves, to discover new movements in their bodies, and at times, stepped outside of their comfort zones to dance, move, and find stillness with strangers.
Thank you to all of you who joined us for one of these sessions – both familiar and new faces. We are honored you chose to spend your Saturday morning with us.
Stay tuned for our upcoming events by subscribing to our newsletter and following us on our Instagram:
